Scorpio Sky Is The New TNT Champion

Scorpio Sky is the new TNT Champion after defeating Sammy Guevara in highly controversial fashion on AEW Dynamite.

The March 9th edition of AEW Dynamite had already been full of surprises, but the main event had one more in store. After a chaotic encounter, Scorpio Sky pinned Sammy Guevara to win the TNT Championship.

Sky entered the ring flanked by Ethan Page and Dan Lambert, putting the champion firmly on the backfoot. Despite Guevara still feeling the effects of his death-defying dive at Revolution, early in the match he attempted to 630 Splash to the outside through a table. However, Sky moved and the Spanish God crashed and burned.

With a broken table and equally broken Guevara laying at ringside, Tay Conti ran to her boyfriend’s aid. Although he was being almost carried up the ramp at one stage, Guevara returned to the match, determined to fight on.

As Guevara turned in a display of tremendous guts and bravery in the ring, a second story was developing outside of it. Conti who continued to cheer on her man, repeatedly clashed with Paige VanZant who was sat in the front row. Although the champion came within touching distance of retaining his title Sky remained in contention.

As the drama continued to build, VanZant jumped the guard rail and attacked Tay Conti throwing her into the steel steps. This distracted Guevara just long enough for Scorpio Sky to hit the TKO and score the win. After the bell with both Conti and Guevara laying in the middle of the ring, the former UFC star VanZant, signed her AEW contract on top of the pair.

Sammy Guevara had held the TNT Championship since defeating Cody Rhodes in a unification match at Beach Break in January. Meanwhile, Scorpio Sky becomes the first man to hold both the TNT and Tag Team Championships.
