What Is Roman Reigns’ WrestleMania Record?

SmackDown Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns burst onto the WWE scene alongside Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins as The Shield at Survivor Series 2012 helping CM Punk to retain the WWE Championship. It wasn’t long before The Hounds of Justice were mixing it up with the top stars in the company and just a few months after their main roster debut, the group made its WrestleMania debut in April 2013.

At WrestleMania 29 The Shield showed just how dominant they could be as a group when they defeated the trio of Randy Orton, The Big Show, and Sheamus in a six-man tag team match. One year later, The Shield very much had the fans on their side as they sought to put an end to the Attitude Era once and for all as they took on The Authority’s team of the New Age Outlaws and Kane. In less than three minutes, The Shield went 2-0 on The Show of Shows.

One year later and The Shield had gone their separate ways after Seth Rollins turned his back on the group. A win at the Royal Rumble match in 2015 ensured Roman Reigns his first WrestleMania main event as he challenged Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship. With fans still not taking to Reigns as their new hero, WWE pulled a rabbit out of the hat and Seth Rollins cashed in his Money In The Bank briefcase during the bout to escape with the WWE Championship in what Michael Cole dubbed “the heist of the century.”

Roman Reigns Has Competed In 6 WrestleMania Main Events

At WrestleMania 32 Roman Reigns was back in the main event and this time he was able to leave as WWE Champion as he defeated Triple H. Reigns had an arguably bigger task the following year – his third WrestleMania main event in a row – as he went toe-to-toe with The Undertaker. Roman Reigns handed The Deadman only his second defeat in WrestleMania history before declaring the following night on Raw “it’s my yard now.”

A fourth consecutive main event came in 2018 as this time Roman Reigns tasted defeat at the hands of Brock Lesnar who retained his Universal Title in the process. Reigns had to take time out of the ring in late 2018 due to a recurrence of leukemia but just a few short weeks after his return in 2019, he found himself defeating Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 35.

Due to uncertainties surrounding COVID-19 with Reigns having battled leukemia, he withdrew from his scheduled Universal Title match with Goldberg at WrestleMania 36. But by the time WrestleMania 37 came around, The Tribal Chief had emerged and he was dominant once again in the main event as he stacked Daniel Bryan and Edge, pinning them both to retain what has become his Universal Championship.

At WrestleMania 38, Reigns and Lesnar clashed once again, becoming the first men in WWE history to main event three WrestleMania events against one another. In a match billed as the biggest of all time, Reigns defeated Lesnar to unify the WWE and Universal Championships. This leaves Reigns heading into his tenth WrestleMania with an event record of 7 wins and 2 losses.
