Rick Boogs Unable To Speak On WWE Release

Rick Boogs

Rick Boogs can’t discuss his WWE exit.

On September 21st WWE made the first cuts to its roster since the company’s merger with UFC was completed. A number of talents such as Mustafa Ali, Dolph Ziggler, and Riddick Moss were all let go.

The cuts came just days after WWE had also let go more than 100 office employees.

Among the talents to be released was Rick Boogs who had found screen time hard to come by in recent months. Since being released, Boogs has claimed his WWE career was hindered by politics, although fans shouldn’t expect to get the details for a little while yet.

During a new workout video posted to YouTube, Boogs said he can’t talk about WWE until December 21st when his non-compete clause expires.

“I know people are like, ‘You’re not in WWE anymore, let’s talk about it.’ I can’t, guys. I’m technically still under contract for three months. My birthday is December 21 and as a birthday present, I’m free from my contract, basically. My birthday, December 21, that’s when I’m free from my contract. Until then, I’m still under contract.”

Rick Boogs Claimed Vince McMahon’s Exit Ended WWE Career

Boogs enjoyed the most success with WWE in early 2022 while teaming with Shinsuke Nakamura. However, the team disbanded after Boogs suffered a serious injury while they were challenging for tag team gold at WrestleMania 38.

During Boogs’ absence Vince McMahon ‘retired’ from WWE after being engulfed by a sexual misconduct scandal and when both McMahon and Boogs returned to the company in January 2023, it was in a very different place.

Speaking in the aftermath of his release from the company, Boogs claimed that Vince McMahon leaving “killed his career.”
