Dave Meltzer has awarded Will Ospreay his 27th five star or higher match.

According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has bestowed a remarkable honour upon Will Ospreay. Meltzer awarded Ospreay his 27th five-star or higher match rating for his electrifying showdown with Tetsuya Naito on night 18 of the NJPW G1 Climax tournament, which took place on August 12th and Meltzer awarded the match six stars.

The highly anticipated encounter between Ospreay and Naito showcased the immense talent and skill possessed by both wrestlers. The match was a semifinal bout, with Ospreay holding a two-to-nothing record over Naito in previous singles competitions. Fans were treated to a display of psychology from Naito, while Ospreay’s moves were described as awe-inspiring.

Meltzer’s six-star rating is a testament to the exceptional performance and chemistry exhibited by both competitors. This accolade further solidifies Ospreay’s status as one of the greatest wrestlers of this generation.

What’s Next For Will Ospreay?

Ospreay is scheduled to appear at AEW’s All In event which is being held at the iconic Wembley Stadium on August 27th. Will Ospreay is set to face wrestling legend Chris Jericho in a singles match which has the potential to be a match of the night candidate.

This bout was set up on the August 16th episode of Dynamite when in a segment featuring Jericho and Don Callis, Ospreay launched a surprise attack on Jericho along with Konosuke Takeshita allowing Callis to deliver the final blow to Jericho.

After this confrontation, Jericho issued his challenge to Ospreay in a backstage segment for a match at All In.
