Santana Closing In On AEW Return

Santana

Santana could be back in an AEW ring very soon.

The former LAX star has been out of action since suffering a torn ACL back in June 2022. Santana last wrestled at Blood and Guts where he teamed with Ortiz and the Blackpool Combat Club to defeat the Jericho Appreciation Society.

After undergoing surgery to repair the damage to his knee, the star went dark on social media but has returned in recent weeks with a number of vignettes seemingly hinting at a comeback.

Interestingly, it’s now been confirmed by Fightful Select that the tag team star is ready to get back in the ring.

Is Santana Going To Reunite With Ortiz?

To add to the intrigue around Santana, around the time of his injury it was reported he was no longer on good terms with long-time tag team partner Ortiz. Not only had that mainly stopped teaming on-screen, but they also fell out backstage.

While some fans have been hoping the air has been cleared during Santana’s absence, things might not be that simple. The report adds the pair still aren’t on good terms, but that couldn’t change upon the star’s return.

With regard to Ortiz, he could be involved at All In after it emerged he’d been pulled from a Limitless Wrestling show on the same weekend for an “AEW-related obligation.”

Outside of an independent booking in August, Ortiz hasn’t wrestled since appearing at a Ring of Honor taping back in April. His last AEW match came on Dynamite a month earlier, when he took part in the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match against the likes of Eddie Kingston, Sammy Guevara, Powerhouse Hobbs, and more.
