Rhea Ripley, the WWE Women’s World Champion, is standing by her man, Dominik Mysterio, as they prepare to make their mark at NXT Heatwave. The power couple has been challenged by rising stars Dragon Lee and Lyra Valkyria to a tag team match on August 22nd, and Ripley is determined to seek revenge.
The saga began on the August 8th episode of NXT when Mysterio successfully defended his NXT North American Title against Dragon Lee. Ripley, by his side, witnessed the fierce battle unfold. However, tensions escalated when Valkyria confronted Ripley, urging her to stay in the back and let Mysterio handle his own business.
As the night unfolded, Valkyria shockingly attacked Ripley, igniting a fire within the Women’s World Champion. Rhea Ripley previously faced Lyra Valkyria on the July 25th episode of NXT.
Fast forward to the August 15th episode of NXT, Ripley and Mysterio took centre stage to issue a powerful challenge to Lee and Valkyria. In a promo, the pair demanded a tag team match at NXT Heatwave, vowing to settle the score once and for all.
The challenge was promptly accepted, with Lee ensuring that their partnership would be strictly platonic, quashing any suggestions of a deeper connection like Ripley and Mysterio share.

Although Ripley and Mysterio did appear at SummerSlam they weren’t in a match, instead, they came out to assist fellow Judgement Day member Finn Balor in his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Seth Rollins. Despite interference from Judgement Day Balor was unable to capture the title from Rollins.
