At NJPW Dominion, the Blackpool Combat Club were defeated by Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi, and Tomohiro Ishii, but they still had an ace up their sleeve.

The BCC team of Jon Moxley, Shota Umino, and Claudio Castagnoli threw everything they had – as well as tables – at the NEVER 6-Man Tag Team Champions, with Castagnoli even catching Okada in the Giant Swing.

However, it wasn’t to be as Okada took his young rival, Shota, down with a devastating Rainmaker for the pinfall and to retain the titles.

Bryan Danielson Challenges Kazuchika Okada for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door

Following the match, Moxley took a microphone to say he has a message for Okada if he thinks he’s the greatest wrestler in the world, and a video played showing Bryan Danielson in the desert.

“For the last 10 years, I’ve heard people talk about how great you are. How you’re the best wrestler of this generation.

“I’ve also heard in interviews, that you’ve said you want to wrestle me, that you want to fight me.

“Watching you, you’re good, I know you’re good, but I am the litmus test of great!

“You wanna wrestle Bryan Danielson. You call yourself The Rainmaker, but you step in the ring with me and you’re getting into the f**king desert! And there ain’t gonna be no rain.”

Following the video, Okada grabbed a microphone and accepted the challenge, saying the “Forbidden Door has been opened.”

This was the second match to be announced for the cross-promotional pay-per-view at Dominion, as earlier in the night Will Ospreay overcame Lance Archer to become the next challenger to Kenny Omega’s IWGP United States Championship.
