Becky Lynch Compares “Shameful” Debut To Shockmaster Botch

Becky Lynch makes her WWE NXT debut against Summer Rae

Becky Lynch would like to go back in time and redo her NXT debut.

Prior to being The Man and Big Time Becks in WWE, fans would first see Lynch dance her way to the ring to face Summer Rae on the developmental brand, continuing the routine right up to the opening bell.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet, the NXT Women’s Champion believes that her entrance was worse than one of the most infamous first appearances in wrestling history as everything she did was intentional:

“Yeah, there we are. Look, if that is not proof that you can dig yourself out of any hole, then I don’t know what is. Because that is, I would put that over Shockmaster in terms of shameful debuts. Yeah Like he just fell over, you know, like he fell over. Okay, fine, that sucks. I went out. I was committed to that, you know like that was my, I think the difference is he didn’t intend to fall over. I intended to go out there and do an Irish jig like that. And thought that I was worthy of being on WWE television. That happened.”

The Shockmaster was introduced to fans at the WCW Clash of the Champions XXIV pay-per-view. Sting, Dustin Rhodes and Davey Boy Smith needed a partner for the upcoming WarGames match at Fall Brawl 1993. Sting would announce the arrival of The Shockmaster, who was intended to burst through a wall and make a grand entrance as pyro went off in dramatic fashion. Instead, the mystery partner would fall through the wall to the floor and his helmet would fall off, causing confusion and hilarity to the other wrestlers.

Becky Lynch To Defend Championship At No Mercy

Following then NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton mocking Big Time Becks for never holding the championship, Lynch proved how big time she was by defeating Stratton to hold the title for the first time in her career. Following a defence of the title on Raw, Becky Lynch will next defend the NXT Women’s Championship at No Mercy.

Along with being a Grand Slam Champion, Becky Lynch has written her memoirs, which are available to pre-order now and are set to be released in March 2024.

Looking back on Becky Lynch’s bloody injury in 2018, a WWE Hall of Famer believes that it was an overall benefit.
