At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door wrestling fans witnessed what Tony Khan praised as one of the greatest matches he’d ever seen.
Despite the many other anticipated matches on the card, such as the first-ever meeting of Bryan Danielson against Kazuchika Okada, there was one eagerly-awaited outing in particular that had the eyes of the wrestling world upon it.
The second singles match between Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay was a highly-anticipated affair. Their first outing at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 was a critically-acclaimed match that received plaudits from fans and pundits alike and the rematch promised to be no different.
The two opponents fought tooth and nail in an epic encounter. Both fighters were left battered and bloodied in a brutal battle that featured everything from high-octane offence and breathtaking near falls. After 30 minutes of intense action, the leader of the United Empire defeated the Best Bout Machine for the IWPG U.S. Title.

Speaking at the Forbidden Door Media Scrum, Khan introduced the new IWGP United States Champion, Ospreay before praising his match as one of the greatest.

Aside from Omega and Ospreay’s instant classic, the main event of the history-making show, saw the American Dragon go one-on-one with the Rainmaker in a first-time-ever matchup. The outing saw two of the best wrestlers of all time compete in a back-and-forth battle that was eventually won by the leader of the Blackpool Combat Club.
The PPV also saw SANADA beat Jungle Boy Jack Perry to retain the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, CM Punk defeat Satoshi Kojima and MJF successfully defend the AEW World Championship against Hiroshi Tanahashi.
