R-Truth’s NXT Injury Reportedly “Very Serious”, Could Be Out-Of-Action For Significant Period

R-Truth raps in the ring

R-Truth returned to NXT recently, losing to Grayson Waller on the November 1 broadcast of the brand. Though Waller won, the victory wasn’t technically a clean one; the referee ruled the bout in his favour when R-Truth could no longer continue.

Suffering what appeared to be a nasty leg injury, it came after the two-time United States Champion botched a somersault dive. He failed to get over the top rope properly, instead landing hard on his back at ringside. Truth subsequently clutched at his leg and had to be helped backstage by WWE’s medical team.

Writing in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer speculated on the injury prognosis for R-Truth, believing that a torn quadriceps was the injury suffered. A timetable wasn’t provided for his return, though these injuries typically keep performers out of commission for lengthy periods of time.

R-Truth Is One Of The Longest-Tenured Current WWE Superstars

The real-life Ronnie Aaron Killings has been with WWE since 2008, though this marked his second run with the sports entertainment giant. His initial stint in the company, under the moniker of K-Kwik, lasted for three years, concluding with his 2002 release.

Having returned in 2008, it makes the 54-time WWE 24/7 Champion one of the company’s longest-serving active Superstars. He’s rivalled only by The Miz, Randy Orton, and Kofi Kingston, whose main roster runs began in 2006, 2002, and 2007, respectively. The likes of Edge and Drew McIntyre aren’t factored into this, owing to them having a gap between their two runs.

Throughout that time, R-Truth has remained a consistently entertaining personality, being a reliable hand for WWE to get a cheap pop. Prior to becoming the kingpin of the 24/7 division, Truth held the United States Championship twice and Tag Team Championships once alongside Kofi Kingston. He was also a two-time Hardcore Champion during his days as K-Kwik.
