Tyler Bate Wins NXT UK Championship 2 Weeks After Appearing With Title On NXT 2.0

Tyler Bate NXT UK Champion

At long last, Tyler Bate is officially recognized as NXT UK Champion despite appearing with the title weeks ago on NXT TV!

At NXT Heatwave on August 16th, multiple members of the NXT UK roster made their presence known in an invasion of sorts. First, Gallus attacked the members of Diamond Mine before later challenging Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen to an NXT UK Tag Team Championship match. Later on, Blair Davenport ripped up a letter that Indi Hartwell had received, presumably from her estranged husband Dexter Lumis.

After Bron Breakker successfully retained his NXT Championship by defeating JD McDonagh in the main event of the show, NXT UK Champion Tyler Bate appeared and stood toe to toe with Breakker in the ring. The show went off the air with both men holding their respective championships high.

On August 24th, Bron Breakker opened NXT 2.0 by calling out Tyler Bate, and after squaring off about which title was the most prestigious, the two agree to a title unification match at NXT Worlds Collide on September 4th.

However, despite appearing with the title on NXT 2.0 television, Tyler Bate was not officially recognized as champion on NXT UK television until September 1st. At long last, the most recent episode of NXT UK saw Bate defeat his former Mustache Mountain tag team partner Trent Seven in the finals of a tournament to crown a new champion in the wake of Ilja Dragonuv’s injury that forced him to relinquish the title.

Trent Seven was released from WWE on August 18th, creating further continuity issues with the NXT UK taping schedule.

Worlds Collide will also see the NXT and NXT UK Women’s Championships unified in a triple threat match set to feature Mandy Rose, Meiko Satomura, and Blair Davenport.
