A WWE star who had been working as a writer and producer backstage has confirmed his departure from the company.

Back in August 2022, several NXT UK stars were released following the announcement that the British brand was being scrapped by the company to make way for the launch of NXT Europe. Among the 20+ talents and personalities released was former PROGRESS Unified World Champion Eddie Dennis.

Dennis returned to the UK independents mere days after his release but retired from professional wrestling altogether this past March after failing to win the RevPro Revolution Rumble 2023 – leaving his boots in the middle of the ring to signify the move.

Two months later, however, it was discovered through a LinkedIn video that Dennis had been quietly rehired by WWE as a writer and producer for NXT.

Not much is known about the nature of Dennis’ behind-the-scenes role at the black and gold brand, although it seems that after just seven months, his time with the company has once again come to an end.

Dennis made a surprise return to Bristol-based promotion Pro Wrestling Chaos last weekend and subsequently posted on X that he had “come to terms with the release of WWE.”

What Was Eddie Dennis’ Last WWE Match?

Prior to his release from the company, Dennis competed on the second last set of NXT UK tapings on July 6th where he and Saxon Huxley lost to Chase University’s Andre Chase and Bodhi Hayward. The episode aired a few weeks later on August 18th, the same day he was released.
