Former WWE Superstar Yet To Speak With AEW About Appearing At All In

AEW All In

On August 27th, AEW will head to the United Kingdom for the first time, but it looks like they’ll be making the trip without one former WWE Superstar.

Following the announcement of the show, many expected Davey Boy Smith Jr. to agree a deal with AEW to appear at Wembley Stadium. Smith is of course the son of the British Bullog who wrestled his most famous match against Bret Hart at the same venue at SummerSlam in 1992.

However, away from the speculation it appears that no deal between the two sides has been discussed. Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed there have been no talks between the two sides, although the ball is very much in Tony Khan’s court.

“There’s been a lot of speculation regarding Davey Boy Smith Jr. and the Wembley Stadium show just for an appearance stemming back to the most famous match ever held in the stadium with his father beating his uncle, Bret Hart, for the IC title. As of this moment, he hasn’t been talked to about it. It’s basically if AEW thinks it’s something they want on the show.”

Different EX-WWE Star Has Signed With AEW

Although Davey Boy Smith Jr. might not be heading to AEW, it appears that a deal to tie down a different former WWE star has been signed, sealed, and delivered.

Following his yet-to-be-aired appearance on the June 23rd episode of Rampage a new report has claimed that John Hennigan has signed with the company.

The former WWE Superstar has wrestled in AEW previously, taking on Samoa Joe in the first-ever Owen Hart Tournament back in March 2022. Hennigan later wrestled Marq Quen and Miro, although he never signed a contract with the company.
