Doctors Have Told Big E Not To Wrestle Again

Big E has revealed he’s been advised to never step in the ring.

The New Day star has been out of action for well over a year after suffering a broken neck. Although he avoided surgery, his road to recovery has been a long one, and his career hangs very much in the balance.

Appearing at the SummerSlam press conference in Detroit, Big E was asked about his current status by Nick Hausman of Haus of Wrestling. The former World Champion admitted that he still doesn’t have a concrete answer to whether he can wrestle again, although doctors have advised him not to.

“We did the year check-up and all that stuff looked great, but on the other side, I also talked to spine specialists, people who have worked on other people in the company and done their fusions and they said, ‘Hey, I would not wrestle again if I were you.’

For me, at 37, these are things that I think about. I think about quality of life. When I started this job at 23 and probably had a bit of a death wish and was okay at dying in the ring, I would now like to not die in the ring. I would like to do other things with my life. I don’t really have a timeline right now. I’m just really grateful to not have any nerve pain. My strength is great. Legit no issues whatsoever.

It’s something I want to be smart about and make the best decision for my life. I’d like to have a lot of healthy life ahead of me. I want to be smart about things. Unfortunately, right now, I have no answer. I feel great, but I have nothing.”

In recent news, Kofi Kingston told reporters that Big E is almost back to 100 per cent.

How Did Big E Get Injured?

Big E has been out of action since suffering a broken neck in a match on SmackDown back in March 2022. The star was teaming with Kofi Kingston against the Brawling Brutes and took a Belly-to-Belly Overhead-suplex from Ridge Holland outside the ring. However, instead of landing flat on his back, Big E ended up hitting the ground high up on his head and neck.

Big E recently attended SmackDown but appears no closer to a return to the ring. In another update in November 2023, there is still no immediate return window for Big E and he originally thought he would only be sidelined for 3 months.
