Damian Priest Reflects On “Insane” WWE Money In The Bank Win

Damian Priest wins at WWE Money In The Bank

Damian Priest has spoken of his disbelief at winning the men’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match.

Despite fan support being well and truly behind LA Knight, it was Damian Priest who emerged victorious in London. The match was a typically chaotic affair with bodies flying every which way and Priest took his fair share of punishment while making sure he stayed dishing it out.

The Judgment Day star was on the end of a Frog Splash onto a Ladder from Logan Paul, before the YouTube star was launched through two tables by Ricochet with a ridiculous Spanish Fly. Not that the madness ended there, with Priest scoring the win after hitting a modified Broken Arrow from the top of a ladder on LA Knight.

During an appearance on The Bump, Priest reflected on the match and how much he enjoyed hitting his rivals with ladders and other weapons.

“I was loving it,” he said. “You got a bunch of bodies that I could just wail on with ladders and stuff, so that’s fun. But as far as groove, it’s kinda hard. Your head is on a swivel. There’s just so many moving parts. Everybody’s trying to do the same thing: Grab that briefcase. The entire time you felt desperation.

From bell to bell, it was insane, so I don’t think anybody ever got into a strict groove because as soon as you feel like you’re gaining momentum, there was somebody there to start theirs. And then somebody there to start theirs. It’s just nonstop. That’s why these matches are so unpredictable. They’re just nonstop action. While one person is getting knocked down, somebody else is going to be standing there behind them. You never get into a groove.”

With regard to his victory, Priest admitted that it’s the stuff of dreams, describing standing at the top of the ladder with the briefcase in hand as a “special moment.”

“I grabbed it and I was like, ‘This just happened. This is happening. This is real. I did it,'” Priest said. “It’s one of those accomplishments that you wish for [and] you dream about, but dreams are that. They’re dreams. They’re not reality. And when you can achieve something like this … Inside I felt like a ball of emotions. It was wild.

That satisfaction of achievement for something you’ve been working towards. I remember months ago when I mistakenly said Money in the Bank as the PLE instead of Elimination Chamber and at moment [I knew] I gotta win this match. I gotta be in it and I gotta win it. It’s like I saw the future. For me, it was a special moment for sure.”

Damian Priest Clashes With Finn Balor On Raw

Although Damian Priest winning the Money In The Bank briefcase has the potential to take his career to a whole new level, it hasn’t come without its problems. Priest clashed with Finn Balor later that night while at ringside, and again on Raw when he believed the Irish star prevented him from cashing-in on Seth Rollins.

Despite this, Judgment Day has accepted a challenge to appear on the July 11th episode of NXT from Carmelo Hayes.

Continuing to have one of the best years of his career, The Judgment Day member has been heavily praised by WWE higher-ups.
