Wheeler Yuta Suffers Injury Ahead Of AEW Grand Slam

Wheeler Yuta

Wheeler Yuta has seemingly suffered an injury blow ahead of AEW Grand Slam.

The event is set to take place at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York on Wednesday 20th September, but it appears that Yuta is now a doubt to appear on the show having been ruled out of in-ring competition at a recent independent show.

Yuta was scheduled to take to the squared circle at Lehigh Valley Apparel Creations’ Steelstacks Smackdown II in Bethlehem, Pennyslvania on Saturday but the promotion announced in advance on social media site ‘X’ that the Superstar would only be able to fulfil the meet and greet portion of his booking due to an unspecified injury:

Unfortunately, @wheeleryuta has suffered an injury and is unable to compete this Sat @ STEELSTACKS SMACKDOWN II. We have, however, confirmed his participation in the pre-show Meet & Greet! Get an autograph and photo op with one of the hottest rising stars of televised wrestling!

Yuta has not wrestled since AEW All Out on September 3rd. Yuta teamed with fellow Blackpool Combat Club Claudio Castagnoli in Chicago as the pair battled to victory over Katsuyori Shibata and Eddie Kingston.

Bryan Danielson Praises Wheeler Yuta’s Impact On Blackpool Combat Club

Recently, Bryan Danielson lifted the lid on Wheeler Yuta’s decision to join the Blackpool Combat Club, noting that it had changed the perception of Yuta and the group as a whole:

“The idea of Wheeler being with the Best Friends before, and now being with us, that makes us seem different.

The idea is, when you join us, you can’t be that anymore. That kind of stuff is cool. I tried to get that across in one of my nights on commentary when Mox, Claudio, and Wheeler were wrestling The Best Friends and Rocky [on Dynamite in June].

My point was, those are the guys Okada hangs out with. Look at the guys I hang out with. That tells you so much.”
