Tommy Dreamer has lifted the lid on being scared for his life during a recent bout.
The former ECW Champion has had his fair share of brutal encounters during a career that has so far lasted over 30 years, but one recent incident left him fearful for his existence.
Dreamer partnered with Heath to battle Kenny King and Sheldon Jean in a Memphis Street fight on the September 28th edition of IMPACT when the incident took place.
In a recent chat with Denise Salcedo on Busted Open Radio, Dreamer revealed that an awkward landing on a trashcan during the bout saw him lose an unhealthy amount of blood:
“Honestly, it was the first time in my career that I was scared for my life and my health.
Freak accident. It was touched upon a little bit and I have a picture of it. I got spinebustered onto a trashcan Normally, and I don’t know if it’s because I’m fatter, I land in the centre of it and I crush it.
But the top coil of the trashcan as soon as I hit it I thought ‘woah, something’s wrong’. And I see I’m stuck. I have gotten stuck in them before, but it’s a different type of stuck. And then I try and move and I can see something is sticking out of my gear, out of my pants.
And I see it’s this metal and I’m like ‘oh my god…this is in my body’. And the top layer had broken and it’s just steel. People don’t realise every time you get hit with a trash can those edges become like razors. I don’t know how I didn’t get impaled through my kidneys and I’m like ‘holy sh*t, this is stuck in me’.
As I go to grab it, Sheldon Jean ripped it out. Now when you are impaled you are supposed to leave the object in and go to the hospital. I check and there’s a sh*tload of blood. But my outfit, I wear my underwear, I wear my pants and I also wear an under armour and my shirt and it’s all absorbing all this blood.
As I continue to go forward it’s still bleeding a lot and you can see me laying on the floor and people are checking on me and I’m like ‘I can finish, I can finish’.
By the grace of God, this steel rod went to the side and kind of went through my love handle and then cut towards my leg and it just severed it as opposed to going through me.I was gushing blood when I went to the back and had to pull off my gear. I have been punctured before but this thing went straight through.
This came so so close, I would have bled out.”

Tony Khan recently revealed that he is close to Tommy Dreamer and recounted that Dreamer once tried to get him together with ‘The Hardcore Legend’ Terry Funk.
