Mandy Rose Explains Delight At 2021 NXT Move

Mandy Rose

Former WWE Superstar Mandy Rose has revealed that she was delighted to switched from the main roster back to NXT during the latter stages of her time with the company.

Rose was moved to the yellow brand after she and then-partner Dana Brooke were unsuccessful in a tag team turmoil match at WrestleMania 37.

After returning to NXT in July 2021, Rose formed the faction ‘Toxic Attraction’ with Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne. In October 2021 Rose would claim the first gold of her career, lifting the NXT Women’s Championship after defeating Raquel Gonzalez in a Trick Or Street Fight bout at Halloween Havoc.

Rose would hold on to the title for an incredible 413 days before her shock release from the company on 13th December 2022.

In a recent interview on the Power Alphas Podcast, Rose explained why she was happy about a switch back to the WWE’s third brand:

“For me, right away, when I got that call [about going to ‘NXT’], I looked at it like a light bulb went off. I went, ‘Oh, this could be so great for me’.

I’ve been wanting to change my character. I’m getting tired of the hot homewrecker, beauty and the beast stuff, ‘God’s Greatest Creation,’ ‘Golden Goddess,’ I think there needs to be change.

And I think there always needs to be change because we all evolve over time. [I] wasn’t very happy with what I was doing at that moment, so in my head, I looked at it as a positive reinforcement of like, this could be something really big and really new and innovative for me.”

When Did Mandy Rose Last Wrestle?

Mandy Rose hasn’t wrestled since December 13th, 2022 when she lost her NXT Women’s Title to Roxanne Perez. The 413 day long reign places her third on the NXT all-time list.

The decision to release Rose just 24 hours after the title loss came after WWE became uncomfortable with the content she was posting on her exclusive content site. Despite being fired by WWE, it was revealed that Rose pulled in $1 million through exclusive content in December alone.

Although Mandy Rose has often hinted at getting back in the ring, she’s also made clear she’s happy to explore non-wrestling ventures in recent months.
