Big Name Slated To Make WWE TV Debut Tonight On SmackDown

WWE Set To Net $1,400,000,000 From SmackDown USA Network Deal

Could Cody Rhodes be finishing another “story” that remains unfinished in his career? A reported debut on tonight’s WWE SmackDown could bring it one step closer to actually happening sometime down the line.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis is set to make his WWE TV debut tonight for SmackDown. Aldis is actually on tap to be a new authority figure in WWE as “The National Treasure” will follow in the footsteps of former NWA alum Adam Pearce of making things “official” for the company. PWInsider notes that this planned debut is a good indicator that Aldis has signed a deal with WWE.

Nick Aldis has worked backstage in WWE as a producer, but the star is only in his mid-30s and has plenty to still contribute in front of the screen rather than behind it.

Aldis has been a name on many minds after his exit from the NWA. The former TNA star played a primary role in bringing the National Wrestling Alliance back to prominence, going on a lenghty run with the “10 Pounds Of Gold” that included many title defenses internationally.

Could We See The Rivalry Of Cody Rhodes And Nick Aldis Rekindle In WWE?

Nick Aldis was the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion at a pivotal time in pro wrestling. One of his greatest rivalries ended up being against Cody Rhodes, who at the time was also re-establishing himself as a name on the independent scene.

The two stars ended up clashing at All In 2018 in a clasic fight with Cody coming out on top before Aldis regained the NWA Title at NWA 70. The two names haven’t crossed paths since and may not for a bit more as Rhodes is a member of WWE Raw. However, with Aldis appearing on television, the door is certainly open.
