AEW Fan Shares Private Conversation With Tony Khan Regarding MJF Storyline

Tony Khan & Shad Khan

One AEW fan has aired out his private grievances with Tony Khan regarding the polarizing MJF storyline that transpired this past Tuesday on Dynamite.

Tony Khan has been all kinds of vocal on social media as his company once again went head-to-head with NXT on Tuesday due to MLB Playoffs and he has continued to make posts on X, publicly and apparently privately.

AEW fan Travis Akers was vocal in his own right on X, particularly after the polarizing angle with MJF transpired. Akers said flat-out he wasn’t a fan of the newsworthy segment and quote-posted an article from TMZ covering the angle.

We were watching AEW when this happened live last night. It was tasteless and a horrible decision by Tony Khan to pursue an angle woven with anti-Semitism. We changed the channel. AEW lost me as a fan with this one, which sucks because I really enjoyed their product.

Akers then later claimed that Tony Khan privately responded to him in his direct messages, screenshotting his conversation with Khan. The screenshot shows the following:

“I got the point that you didn’t likek the angle on the 2nd tweet Travis. Message was received hours ago. I don’t think quote-tweeting TMZ is doing much good.”

Akers responded, to which Khan noted he knows who Akers is as he is a resident of Jacksonville. In an effort to prove that the direct message correspondence wasn’t doctored, Akers took a video showing him accessing his own DMs.

Many In AEW Think Tony Khan Should Step Away From Social Media

Tony Khan took shots at Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Vince McMahon and the under “one million” viewership numbers NXT received in besting AEW and it’s caused a lot of buzz in the wrestling world. The Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez has said the primary belief among those at AEW is Tony Khan should put his phone down and take a leave from social media.
