Tony Schiavone Recalls Being Eric Bischoff’s “Whipping Boy” In WCW

Tony Schiavone Recalls Being Eric Bischoff's

AEW announcer Tony Schiavone has reflected on his relationship with Eric Bischoff back in his WCW days.

Tony Schiavone, the legendary wrestling commentator, is one of the voices of All Elite Wrestling today. However, back in the 1990s, World Championship Wrestling was the promotion that Schiavone was most closely associated with, which was being run at the time by Eric Bischoff.

Recently, while discussing his 90s fashion sense on his podcast, “What Happened When,” Schiavone spoke about his relationship with WCW’s booker and Senior Vice President.

Sometimes I was [Eric Bischoff’s] whipping boy when he was frustrated. He got on me a lot, but I didn’t care, because he depended on me and he was good to me, basically.

Schiavone revealed that Bischoff gave him a hard time, but it never bothered him. In the past, Schiavone has openly discussed elements of his somewhat rocky relationship with Bischoff. He stated what others have said in the past that Bischoff could be difficult to work with at times.

Despite the occasional friction, Schiavone and Bischoff didn’t really stay in touch in the decades since they worked together in WCW, with just a handful of interactions over the years.

However, the two did take part in a panel at the C2E2 convention a few years back. Bischoff has also made a couple of appearances on AEW television since the inception of “Dynamite” in 2019.

What Does Eric Bischoff Think Of AEW?

Bischoff often discusses AEW on his multiple podcasts. Though the young company is often compared to WCW, Bischoff is known to be quite critical of the promotion. Nevertheless, he has praised Collision, in recent weeks.
