WWE has confirmed that Triple H, also known as Paul Levesque, has undergone a successful procedure after what an official statement from the company calls a “cardiac event.”
WWE issued the statement on its website before publicising it on social media, the full statement from the company regarding Levesque reads:
“Paul Levesque, a.k.a. Triple H, underwent a successful procedure last week at Yale New Haven Hospital following a cardiac event. The episode was caused by a genetic heart issue and Paul is expected to make a full recovery.”
Paul Levesque first joined the WWF in 1995, before gaining prominence as part of D-Generation X with Shawn Michaels. The Game became WWF Champion for the first time in 1999, going on to hold a version of a world title fourteen times in the company with his last run coming in 2016.
In recent years Levesque has made a name for himself as an executive of WWE, holding the position of Executive Vice President, Global Talent Strategy & Development. He was also the founding father of NXT and has been credited with a lot of the brand’s success over the years as it has seen stars such as Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch to name but a few populate the main roster in the company.
Triple H last set foot in a wrestling ring in anger in June 2019 when he took part in tag team matches at live events in Japan. Prior to that, he faced former Evolution teammates Randy Orton and Batista in one on one action with his match with The Animal taking place at WrestleMania 35.
Levesque began a relationship with Stephanie McMahon in 2000 before the couple was married in 2003. Together with Levesque and McMahon have three daughters – Aurora, Murphy, and Vaughan – who were born in 2006, 2008, and 2010 respectively.
