Hulk Hogan Controversy Set To Feature In TNT Docuseries

Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan is one of the most recognizable stars in professional wrestling, making himself into a household name in the 1980’s and appearing in cartoons, starring in movies, and helping WWE to new heights with the advent of WrestleMania.

However, the star’s legacy has been tainted over the years, largely due to his participation in a sex tape he says was made without his permission.

In 2006, Hogan was filmed having sex with Heather Clem, who was married to his longtime friend Bubba the Love Sponge. Clem was known to have an alternative lifestyle, and Hogan claims he was simply stopping by the house to say hello when she tempted him into sleeping with her with the understanding that her husband was ok with the situation.

Hogan didn’t know that the encounter was captured on film, and in 2012, Gawker published a short clip of the video on its website. Matters were made worse for Hogan when it was revealed in 2015 that Hulk Hogan used explicit racist language on the tape, and Hogan was subsequently suspended from the WWE Hall of Fame until he was reinstated in 2018.

Hogan sued the media organization, and in March of 2016, he was awarded $115 million in compensatory damages and $25 million in punitive damages. Gawker was forced to declare bankruptcy, and in November of 2016, the company reached a $31 million settlement with Hogan.
