Ex-WWE Star Hornswoggle Hits Back At Hugh Grant Over “Wonka” Criticisms

Ex-WWE Star Hornswoggle Hits Back At Hugh Grant Over

Former WWE Superstar Hornswoggle has taken issue with actor Hugh Grant over comments regarding his latest role.

Wonka is the latest movie to be released that has taken inspiration from the best-selling novel by Roald Dahl; Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The adaptation sees Grant cast as Oompa-Loompa Lofty, who is portrayed as being small in stature in the film despite being nearly 6 feet tall. Motion capture technology was used to present Grant in this way, one of many reasons why the actor did not enjoy his time making the motion picture.

The BAFTA Award-winning actor has voiced his displeasure about the role in promotional tours for the movie, stating the following at a press conference ahead of Wonka’s release:

‘I made a big fuss about it. I couldn’t have hated the whole thing more.’

Former WWE Star Hornswoggle Fires Back At Hugh Grant

Following his departure from professional wrestling, Hornswoggle, real name Dylan Postl, has moved into the acting world following his departure from WWE. Appearing on Sky News, the former Cruiserweight Champion has “zero sympathy” for Grant as he knew what he signed up for:

“He knew what he was getting into when he took the role, that’s my whole thing. He knew the character, he knew how it would be viewed, edited and all that, but he still took it. Obviously, I have zero sympathy for him feeling this way and it’s even more than that, I feel it’s a shame that he did take that role and it could have gone to someone of my stature.”

Postl continued, stating that the production company made an error with their casting choice and should have chosen an actor of smaller stature:

“It’s an absolutely huge movie and a huge part of the Wonka story and backstory, how they are perceiving it. So for it to go to someone in the dwarf community would have been absolutely enormous.”

Hornswoggle had a memorable career in WWE, with highlights including being named as Vince McMahon’s illegitimate son and being revealed as the anonymous Raw General Manager.
