Melina Predicted WWE Firing After Interaction With Vince McMahon

Melina

Melaia has recalled the moment she knew she’d be fired by WWE.

By 2011, Melina Perez had been with WWE for seven years and enjoyed success alongside Johnny Nitro (Morrison) and Joey Mercury as well as becoming a three-time Women’s and two-time Divas Champion.

However, the life of a WWE Superstar can be a perilous one, especially with Vince McMahon heading up creative. So despite this success, the star was fired in August 2011.

During an interview with Wrestling Shoot Interviews, Melia revealed she actually predicted she’d be fired a few days before getting the call. The star recalled speaking to Vince McMahon at a SmackDown taping and the exchange convinced her that she would be released.

“I didn’t know [I was being fired] until the next day. The next day… I went to go support John [Morrison] because I had to drive him to SmackDown because he was working on… I think it was either Smackdown or ECW. I drove him to the show,so I stayed and I was in gorilla. Vince was passing by and he stopped and he turned and he looked at me and he said, “you have a good night.”

Then he turned around and walked away, and all the guys were like “WOW, you know, he made sure to say good night to you.” I was like, “holy f*ck, I’m getting fired.” They said “Oh shut up, Melina you’re not getting fired.” I said, “he just said, f*ck you to be but with a good night.” And sure enough a couple of days later, I got fired. I called it I called it.”

Has Melina Returned To WWE?

After leaving WWE in 2011 Melina headed out onto the independent scene later making appearances in NWA and IMPACT Wrestling. The former Women’s Champion made a surprise one-night WWE return at the 2022 Royal Rumble.
