According to a new report AJ Styles has signed a new contract with WWE despite their being interest from elsewhere.

In recent months, WWE contracts have come under the microscope like arguably never before. With AEW presenting itself as a viable alternative to WWE a number of Superstars such as Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly have allowed their deals to expire before heading to pastures new.

There had also been a great deal of speculation linking Kevin Owens with a move to AEW before he put pen to paper on a new multi-year, multi-million dollar deal contract with WWE.

Throughout his career, AJ Styles has travelled the world performing for the biggest promotions on the planet. Earning a vast number of accolades and championships as he’s done so. This has naturally led some to suggest that he may be on the move again when his WWE contract expires. However, a new report has claimed that this won’t be the case.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Styles has recently signed a new long-term contract. The report appears to confirm that there was significant interest from elsewhere in acquiring Styles’ services but he now considers himself a WWE “lifer.”

“No, he’s not going anywhere. He just signed, I don’t know if it’s a 3 or a 5 [year deal]. It wasn’t that long ago when he signed it. He’s not going anywhere. He had the chance to go if he wanted to but he was not interested. There were certainly overtures made for him and they were good money overtures but he’s in his mind, I think he’s a lifer there. Whether that’s the right or wrong call, I couldn’t tell you,”

Since signing with WWE AJ Styles has become a Triple Crown Champion, most recently holding the Raw Tag Team Titles alongside Omos. However, the relationship between the pair has since broken down with the two men going their separate ways.

In recent weeks Styles has also become wrapped up in a feud with NXT’s Grayson Waller. The former WWE Champion made another appearance at New Year’s Evil to address the ongoing situation, and gave a heartfelt address to the crowd about how he never got to spend time in NXT when he came to WWE.

Styles was then interrupted by Waller, setting up a match between the pair on the January 11th episode of NXT 2.0.
