Don Callis – Kenny Omega Is “Bigger Than Flair, Bigger Than Hogan”

Don Callis Kenny Omega in AEW

Don Callis says Kenny Omega is bigger than the greatest champions in wrestling history, Kenny Omega says he is bigger than a contemporary champion close to his heart.

Appearing on IMPACT Wrestling on AXS TV, AEW Champion Omega and IMPACT executive Don Callis took to the ring to promote Omega’s upcoming match against Ruch Swann.

IMPACT World Champion Swann will face Omega in a ‘Title vs. Title’ match at the Rebellion event on April 24th. Swann recently unified the IMPACT and TNA World Championships by defeating Moose.

Callis lavished praise on Kenny Omega before stating that he was bigger than some of wrestling’s greatest champions:

“Kenny Omega, the greatest wrestler in the history of professional wrestling. Bigger than Hackenschmidt, bigger than Gotch, bigger than Thesz, bigger than Flair, bigger than Hogan, bigger than Moxley. Bigger than everybody! I could go all night but we’re gonna run out of air time!”

At this point, Omega added a name that is sure to get fans of his Japanese career salivating as he shouted:

“Bigger than Ibushi.”

Kota Ibushi is the current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Ibushi is also Kenny Omega’s former tag-team partner in the ‘Golden Lovers.’ The duo first teamed up in DDT in 2009 before splitting in 2014. The two men shared an emotional reunion in 2018 after Cody Rhodes attacked Ibushi after a match. Ibushi and Omega became a constant in each other’s careers until Omega left Japan to join AEW.

Don Callis continued his rant saying that he was prepared to do anything to ensure the legacy of Kenny Omega:

“What I’m prepared to do is anything it takes to ensure the legacy and the greatness of [Omega]. I want competition, we want the best [in IMPACT Wrestling]. Rich Swann wants the best and I am prepared to suck every drop of blood, every talent, every resource. I will suck it out of this company if it helps Kenny by God Omega.”

On AEW Dynamite, Kenny Omega faces Matt Sydal one-on-one. If Sydal defeats the champion, he will earn a title shot against Omega.
