Legendary commentator and WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross has had the best seat in the house for some of the best wrestling matches of all time. From the classic battle between Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart and ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13 to the incredible bout between Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker at WrestleMania 25, the Oklahoma native has seen them all. And he has spoken out this week to praise a recent 5* match between two AEW talents.
Jim Ross heaps praise on Bryan Danielson vs MJF match
Speaking recently on his Grillin’ JR podcast, Ross spoke highly on the recent Iron Man Match between Bryan Danielson and MJF at AEW Revolution:
“Oh, I loved it. I loved it. I really take my good old black hat off to both those guys. They told a great story, they kept connecting the dots, and that’s the art of great storytelling. You don’t have any interruptions in service like you do on cable TV sometimes.
So no, I thought it was fantastic. MJF exceeded my expectations in that match. He worked his ass off. He got himself in great shape, he was prepared.”
Ross tipped his famous black hat to the veteran Bryan Danielson, who he believe played a huge role in the execution of the AEW World Heavyweight Championship bout:
“Bottom line, that match was great. Bryan Danielson deserves a tremendous amount of credit for being the captain of that match, and making sure that he fed MJF with material, physical material, verbal material, emotional material, to sustain the contest. It takes a team effort without question.
And I thought those guys scored big time. Because again, you just remember the common sense aspect of these things. They’re gonna go an hour, we knew that.”
Whilst cutting a controversial and oustpoken figure, MJF is highly touted to enjoy a career at the very top of the wrestling world and Ross could only echo those sentiments whilst labelling Bryan Danielson as the best wrestler in the world at present:
“I’ve seen nothing but good stuff, feedback online about that match. And I just thought it was excellent. I really did. I’m proud of those guys.
And it gave me confidence that we have we haven’t seen nearly the best of the champion. He’s still gonna get better. He’s young, he’s 26, he’s gonna be fine. He’s gonna be I think that should relieve the doubt, if there are was any to where he’s more than just a great mouthpiece. We know he’s a great talker.
But we saw he had another side of him, athletic side of him, that I was very, very impressed with and what more can you say about Bryan Danielson. We say this on television. I know part of it is hype. That he’s the best wrestler, the best pro-wrestler in the world. I think he is.”
