FTR Say Tony Khan “Gets Them” More Than Vince McMahon

FTR

When FTR took a hiatus from AEW television in January, speculation arose about their future with the company as it was reported that their contracts would expire in April.

However, the duo returned to television at AEW Revolution, and soon after laid down a challenge to The Gunns for the AEW World Tag Team Championships. They put their careers on the line against the titles, saying that if they failed to capture the belts, they’d leave All Elite Wrestling forever.

Fans of the pair had no need to worry, though, as they defeated The Gunns on the April 4th episode of Dynamite to become the new AEW World Tag Team Champions, ensuring that their time in AEW was far from over.

Speaking in a new interview with Raj Prashad of UPROXX, both FTR members opened up about their decision to remain All Elite, with Dax Harwood saying he believes Tony Khan understands the duo more than Vince McMahon did.

“I think that Tony (Khan) gets Dax and Cash, FTR, better than Vince. I think he understands that we are average, everyday human beings that just caught on with the fans because they can relate to us, because we’re either family men or just regular human beings. We just enjoy physicality and we enjoy fighting, and I think that they can live their lives through us.

“(Vince has) a business track record that proves that he is obviously very intelligent to the business, but I think he thinks he knows what the Revival was better than we did. That’s why he came up with all those cartoon costumes he gave us. In contrast, Tony understands that no one knows who we are better than us, and no one can display our characters or show our characteristics better than we can.”

Cash Wheeler Says FTR Has Open And Honest Conversations With Tony Khan

Wheeler chimed in next, backing up his tag team partner while making it clear that he had respectful conversations with both Vince McMahon and Triple H during their time in WWE but still clarifying that Tony Khan allows for more open and honest discussion.

“The conversations we have with Tony, the relationship we have with Tony compared to [Triple H] or Vince, we get along well with both those guys over there. Vince, to our faces anyway, was always very respectful, respected our work. Same with Hunter. But with Tony, I feel like we can have open, honest discussions with him about how we feel, where we think we need to change something or pivot. And I know that he’s receptive to it.”
