Rick Boogs Forced To Clarify Inaccurate Claim He Hates Pro Wrestling

Rick Boogs makes it clear he does not hold a hatred for pro wrestling as the former WWE star was recently misquoted on social media.

Boogs, real name Eric Bugenhagen, shared a video talking about how difficult amateur wrestling was to be a part of back in college. There was a moment when he said “wrestling just sucks,” but was referring to all the dieting, cutting weight and sacrifice that comes with being apart of amateur wrestling. However, Ringside News took the quote out of context and shared an image on X with the quote as a caption, making it seem that Boogs said he hated pro wrestling. Boog unfortunately had to come to his own defense after getting undeserved blowback by fans.

“I was talking about my time in college wrestling…totally false headline. Ringside News should definitely delete that wildly inaccurate piece of journalism.”

Thankfully the post was deleted by Ringside News, but Boogs still had to feel the effects of the inaccurate caption.

Rick Boogs One Of The September 21 Releases By WWE

Rick Boogs continued to make it known what the original purpose of the video was and it had zero to do with his pro wrestling career.

“If anyone took the time to watch the video, the go home message is that you can have a positive perspective no matter what the situation and that change is often difficult yet beneficial. Nothing to do with my time in pro wrestling.”

Rick Boogs became well known as Shinsuke Nakamura’s guitarist and partner in crime and was a crowd favorite on SmackDown.

It’s apparent that he has a love for pro wrestling as he was one of the several talents to get a photo opportunity with The Rock during his surprise SmackDown appearance several weeks back. Boogs said in a previous video that he believes his release was in part due to a “backstage political power play.” He also said that Vince McMahon being removed from WWE killed his career with the company.
