Eddie Kingston Blasts Toxic Wrestling Fans: “Your Opinion Doesn’t Matter”

Eddie Kingston Blasts Toxic Wrestling Fans:

Eddie Kingston has called out fans who are abusive on social media.

As seen in the internet wrestling community, mostly on Twitter, some fans have posted abusive comments online directed at wrestlers. The more extreme trolls will also hide behind a fake profile picture to protect their identity. The Ring of Honor World Champion experienced the dark side of social media earlier in the year, so much so that he removed himself from Twitter altogether following someone posting abusive comments about former AEW Women’s Champion Riho.

Speaking with Taylor Wilde, Kingston gave more insight as to what happened back in March. The Mad King revealed that he was already not in a good space following an international trip being cancelled and how an idiotic fan pushed him too far:

“I quit Twitter because I saw some nasty sh*t that someone wrote about Riho, and I was having a bad day as it was anyway, and I got COVID. I was supposed to go to Ireland. I got COVID before going to Ireland, so I was already mad and I’m just flipping through my phone, and I saw something. It wasn’t even a person. It was some goosegg gimmick, they didn’t even have a profile picture. It was just some nasty sh*t, and I was like, I’m over this, I’m done. That was it. It just became toxic. It’s worse than MySpace. People would get mad at the Top 8,”

Discussing social media in general, Kingston gave his honest thoughts on the platforms, stating that it has given people a sense of entitlement when the truth is the opposite:

“I was raised like that. I was raised that it was nobody’s business and nobody gives a f*ck. You have your opinion, and like my mother would tell me, ‘opinions are like assholes and they all stink.’ I guess the age, and I’m going to sound like an old man yelling at the clouds, but I guess the age of social media has made people feel like their opinions matter. I’m not going to lie to you. It doesn’t. If it makes you feel good for that day to tweet or to put something out and bashing somebody, or even praising somebody, it doesn’t matter. Good or bad. It doesn’t matter at the end of the day.”

Eddie Kingston Discusses AEW Backstage Drama

The alleged incidents in All Elite Wrestling have not escaped the headlines, with stories regarding CM Punk, Jack Perry and The Elite being well-known among fans. Not one to be caught up in the dramas, Eddie Kingston has stated that if people want to talk about the AEW drama then that’s on them.
