AEW WrestleDream Heading For Lowest Pay-Per-View Attendance In Years

Tickets for AEW WrestleDream are moving slowly.

On October 1st, AEW will head to Seattle, Washington for the first-ever WrestleDream. The event will serve as a tribute to the late, great Antonio Inoki, and the card is stacked with many of the biggest names All Elite Wrestling has to offer.

In recent months AEW has committed to producing more programming and pay-per-views ahead of shifting to 12 PPV per-year model in 2024. This means that WrestleDream comes four weeks after All Out and only five since All In.

Some have questioned whether this increased schedule alongside running three television shows per week will have an impact on attendance and pay-per-view buys. Although it’s too early to say definitively, it was reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter on September 23rd that WrestleDream has sold a little over 5,000 tickets. This means it’s on course for the lowest PPV live attendance since the pandemic.

The Wrestle Dream show is at 5,005, so it looks to be the lowest PPV audience since the pandemic.

Tony Khan Promises Start Of A “New Era” At AEW WrestleDream

Speaking ahead of the show that will be headlined by Bryan Danielson vs. Zack Sabre Jr., Tony Khan said the show would represent the dawn of a new era.

“You won’t want to miss AEW WrestleDream as we’ll end a chapter in wrestling history and begin a new era in AEW live on pay-per-view next Sunday night, October 1st.”

Elsewhere on the show, Eddie Kingston will defend his ROH World and NJPW STRONG Openweight Titles against Katsuyori Shibata and Kris Statlander will put the TBS Title on the line against Julia Hart.

Recently it was announced that ITV 4 will be airing AEW WrestleDream for free in the UK on October 5th.
