AEW Rampage In Chicago Sells Out In Minutes

AEW Rampage

AEW Rampage scheduled for the 20th of August from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois has sold out minutes after the general sale began.

WrestleTix has reported that roughly five minutes after the general sale began at 11 am EST. Most of the allocation of tickets had already sold out last week through pre-sale buys.

It was recently reported by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer that AEW All Out scheduled for the suburbs of Chicago on September 5th had become the hottest secondary market ticket in wrestling history, with even the cheapest ticket to get into that event now running into the hundreds of dollars.

AEW Rampage The First Dance was announced by Tony Khan At Fight For The Fallen. Many fans were salivating at the prospect of AEW coming into the heartland of Chicago given rumours surrounding the status of CM Punk.

Punk has reportedly been in talks to end his seven and a half year wrestling hiatus and return to the wrestling ring in the land of AEW. There is no doubt that many fans will have snapped up tickets in the hope that they can say they were there on the night CM Punk became All Elite.

Darby Allin seemingly alluded to CM Punk at Fight For The Fallen when he uttered a line about those that believe that they are the ‘Best In The World.’ Although the former TNT Champion has since claimed that the line wasn’t aimed at the former WWE Champion.

Arguably the highlight of CM Punk’s wrestling career came in his hometown of Chicago in July 2011. In front of a rabid hometown crowd, Punk defeated John Cena for the WWE Championship before seemingly walking out of the company as his contract expired.

There is still no official word if CM Punk or another former WWE Champion has signed with AEW, with AEW President Tony Khan refusing to comment on the rampant speculation.
