Major Non-WWE Name In Contention For 2023 Hall Of Fame Induction

With WrestleMania 39 just around the corner, speculation is also well underway about who will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

In 2022, The Undertaker led the inductions, while he was joined by The Steiners, Vader, and Sharmell. However, at the time of writing, there have been no announcements made about the class of 2023.

In conjunction with Give Me Sport, the popular Twitter account Wrestle Votes has offered an update on who could be in line to join the likes of Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

One man who seemingly won’t be involved is Vince McMahon. Since McMahon ‘retired’ back in July 2022, there has been occasional chatter that he could be inducted in 2023, but it appears that this won’t be the case.

However, the report states that 2023 could be the year for Batista, noting that he’s “owed” the nod. The wrestler-turned-Hollywood star had been due to be inducted in 2020 but eventually pulled out of the rearranged ceremony in 2021. In recent weeks the Guardians of the Galaxy star has admitted that he’s “trying” to get inducted in 2023.

WWE Set To Honour Japanese Legend?

The report also claims that Japanese legend The Great Muta could be given the honour. The veteran recently brought down the curtain on his illustrious career via a lengthy farewell tour in Japan. WWE star Shinsuke Nakamura was involved in one of these matches, taking on the icon under the Pro Wrestling NOAH banner on January 1st. It has now been suggested by Wrestle Votes that part of this deal included a Hall of Fame induction for Muta.

In closing the report also notes that ring announcer Lilian Garcia could also be inducted.
