Former WWE Star Reveals Hilarious “Zombie Prank”

Damian Priest Miz Army of the Dead zombies WWE

Back in May of 2021, WWE took part in a bizarre display of cross-promotion when they employed zombies as lumberjacks in a match between Damian Priest and The Miz at WrestleMania Backlash.

The match served to help promote the Netflix movie Army of the Dead, which stars former WWE Champion Dave Bautista. Damian Priest found himself victorious in the bout, and after scoring a pinfall, exited the ring. The horde of zombies at ringside closed in on The Miz, appearing to eat him alive, though it was later revealed that he’d escaped almost certain doom with only a leg injury.

Accompanying Miz to the ring was his then-tag team partner John Morrison, who spoke about the experience during a recent interview with The Wrestling Perspective Podcast. He revealed that former WWE star Scotty 2 Hotty was one of the zombies, but that he didn’t recognize the star because of the incredible makeup job done to make him into one of the undead.

“The craziest part of that whole day was there was this one zombie that followed me around for like five minutes, and kept kind of touching me. I didn’t want to be rude, [but] I was finally like, ‘Get the f**k away from me, bro.’ It was Scotty 2 Hotty.”

“Wrestling Doesn’t Have To Make Any Sense” – John Morrison On Loving WWE’s Army Of The Dead Match

The match received plenty of criticism online as it took a stark departure from reality. Many fans believed it to be too fantastical within the world of WWE, but Morrison dismissed those claims, saying he had no problem with the bout being so weird because wrestling doesn’t always have to make sense to be enjoyable.

“To be honest, I loved it. It’s so weird, and it doesn’t make any sense, but then again, wrestling doesn’t have to make any sense.”
