Former ROH Owner Criticizes Tony Khan’s Booking

SAG-AFTRA Strikes And Injuries Forced Tony Khan To Rebook ROH Death Before Dishonor

Former ROH owner Cary Silkin isn’t fond of Tony Khan’s version of the promotion.

Back in March of 2022, AEW President Tony Khan announced that he’d purchased Ring of Honor. Khan soon revealed that he would be booking the promotion himself, and it was indicated that Khan would use Ring of Honor as a sort of developmental territory for AEW.

Fans have seen increased cross-promotion between ROH and All Elite Wrestling in recent years, with stars like Claudio Castagnoli, Samoa Joe, and Eddie Kingston holding major Ring of Honor titles.

Cary Silkin Isn’t A Fan Of Tony Khan’s Ring Of Honor

Cary Silkin, who operated the promotion from 2004-2011 until its sale to Sinclair Broadcasting, has expressed concern over Khan’s booking in the past, and in a new appearance on The Insiders, he reaffirmed his belief that Ring of Honor isn’t what it once was.

“It’s still alive today, but it’s …it doesn’t have … even in the worst times of my Ring of Honor, even in the worst times of the Sinclair Ring of Honor, there was like ‘We’re all in this together’ kind of. It was a family; the fans are family. And I like Tony Khan, and he’s a good guy, and he’s got so much on his plate that I just think the current Ring of Honor is … I can’t come up with the right words,” he continued. “And maybe I’m sour grapes a little. But it’s not gelled together properly.”
