AEW Match Scrapped Because Talent Refused To Lose

AEW refused to lose.

A match scheduled to take place on AEW TV did happen as one of the participants did not want to be defeated.

A match was booked to take place between Komander and Metalik on the October 27th episode of Rampage. However, fans never did get to see this match for a bizarre reason, Metalik refused to lose to Komander.

As reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this was why the recent episode of Rampage had 3 matches instead of 4 and how it likely will cause issues for Metalik moving forward:

“The reason the Rampage show had only three matches instead of four is because Komander vs. Metalik was booked for the show and then pulled when Metalik refused to put Komander over. Metalik still worked Collision a few days later but that can’t have helped his standing here.”

While it is unknown why Metalik made this decision, it should be noted that the two wrestlers did have a match on the October 14th episode of Ring of Honor, with Komander winning this match.

Metalik first wrestled for AEW back in September 2022 with multiple appearances on Dark and Dark: Elevation. The former WWE star’s televised debut came on the May 24 2023 episode of Dynamite, where Metalik teamed with AR Fox and Blake Christian in a losing effort to challenge then Trios Champions The House of Black for the titles.

AEW Issues Continue

The news regarding Metalik refusing to do business is the latest in a series of problems plaguing All Elite Wrestling. On top of the law of diminishing returns regarding Tony Khan’s announcements and AEW stars leaving the promotion, a prominent journalist has reported that AEW is not currently profitable as a promotion.
