Tony Khan remains a big fan of Jade Cargill.
The last six weeks have been chaos in AEW, with CM Punk getting into a backstage confrontation at the promotion’s biggest show in history, before being fired. As the ramifications of Punk’s exit run through the company and creative plans change, Jade Cargill has now decided to let her contract expire.
Cargill was seen as one of the biggest female stars in the company, and someone who could play a massive role in AEW’s future. However, the former TBS Champion now stands on the brink of a move to WWE.
Appearing on the Superstar Crossover podcast, Tony Khan was asked about Cargill, and while he stopped short of confirming her exit, he said she’s always welcome in AEW.
“Jade had a great match on Friday night on AEW Rampage and it was a great match against Kris Statlander. Kris Statlander retained the TBS Championship on Rampage on Friday night and I thought that was a great match, definitely one of the best matches I’ve seen either of them have and I thought a really great main event for the show.
As far as Jade goes, I can’t really comment on that except to say that Jade’s been a great wrestler for AEW and certainly always welcome in AEW, you know, could always be somebody we would always love to work with here in AEW.”
Tony Khan repeated the sentiment the following week in a media call.
WWE Has Big Plans For Jade Cargill
With AEW seemingly in her rearview mirror, WWE reportedly has big plans for Jade Cargill. The star recently appeared at the Performance Center, although there’s no word on when she’ll officially sign with WWE or make her debut.
