WWE Confirms Signing Of Former Syracuse Defensive Lineman Josh Black

WWE has signed college football star, Josh Black.

According to the Rockford Register Star, Josh Black, the former Syracuse defensive lineman, has become the latest signing under WWE’s N.I.L. program.

The WWE’s N.I.L program, dubbed “Next In Line,” is a program that allows college athletes to monetise their name, image and likeness while still being able to attend college and then in the future, they can pursue a career with WWE if they choose.

Black participated in the tryouts held during SummerSlam weekend in Detroit and has now inked a three-year rookie contract. Reflecting on his journey, Black expressed his initial concerns when he didn’t receive an immediate response from WWE. However, his worries were laid to rest as he was thrilled to finally receive the contract offer.

I waited and waited; but it was so worth the wait. I was a little struck. It was one of those moments, where you are like ‘Is this really happening, I was a little worried, sure, but I knew I had a good thing going.

Black’s outstanding performance at the tryouts secured him a contract, and he is excited to embark on his new wrestling career. In the next two to three months, he will be relocating to Orlando, Florida, where he will undergo professional wrestling training at WWE’s Performance Center.

I knew I did well at that tryout. Now, I’ve got a contract coming in about a week, and then it’s off to Orlando (Florida) in the next 2 or 3 months for a new life.

What Has Josh Black Done Before Signing With WWE?

Black played as a defensive lineman for the Syracuse Orange football team. With an impressive college football record, including 155 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, eight sacks, two fumble recoveries, an interception, and two blocked kicks in 60 games, Black is eager to showcase his skills and make a name for himself in the wrestling world.
