Former WWE Star Believes Gable Steveson Can “Do Great Things”

Gable Steveson

Gable Steveson signed with WWE to much fanfare in September 2021.

The company seemed to have big plans for the Olympic Gold Medallist, even drafting him to Raw in October of that year and then having him make a cameo appearance at WrestleMania 38.

However, since then, Steveson hasn’t appeared much on WWE TV, with his only appearance seeing him take part in Kurt Angle’s birthday celebration on SmackDown in December 2022.

A recent report noted that the star hasn’t “lit the world on fire” during his training. Originally, he was seemingly set to be fast-tracked to the main roster, but those plans were put on hold.

Former WWE star says Gable Steveson is on the same path as Kurt Angle

Despite not being ready for the main roster quite yet, one man who has worked with Steveson believes he’s destined for great things.

Speaking on the Kurt Angle Show, Ken Anderson – also known as ‘Mr. Kennedy’ – said the young star has “really taken to” wrestling.

“He’s really taken to it. He’s one of those guys, I remember, he took his first bump, and I told him, ‘Get up this way,’ and he got up the wrong way.

“Before I even said anything, he just went, ‘Oh–‘ reversed himself back down and did it almost perfectly the first time.”

He went on to compare Steveson to Angle, claiming he is on a similar path.

“People will often say that Kurt took to the business like nobody they’ve ever seen before, that he got it immediately, and you got not only the athletic side of things, but you got the showmanship, the storytelling, and the character stuff.

“I feel like Gable is on that path. He can do great things. He’s young. He’s very young, but he’s already a man.

“You know, he’s very young, but when I’m talking to him, he seems you’re talking to an old soul like he’s in his 30s.”
