Zack Sabre Jr Debuts New Finishing Move With Very Specific British Influence

Zack Sabre Jr

Zack Sabre Jr has added a new finishing move to his NJPW arsenal, which fits in nicely alongside other moves he has popularised, such as “Tesco Meal Deal” and “Barry From Eastenders.”

In today’s D-Block Finals of the 33rd NJPW G1 Climax, Zack Sabre Jr faced off against Hirooki Goto. The two NJPW mainstays faced off in a thrilling fourteen-minute bout, which ended in Sabre applying a Cobra Twist submission, forcing Goto to give up.

But in true Zack Sabre Jr fashion, he hasn’t stuck to the true name of the move. Instead, he has named it: “When Did They Put All Of The Argos Inside Sainsbury’s?

(credit to u/modestmunch on Reddit!)

The move name refers to the well-known UK store Argos, which was bought by supermarket Sainsbury’s in 2016 for £1.4billion. Post-sale, all Argos stores now take up space within many Sainsbury supermarkets.

Zack Sabre Jr, known for utilising several finishing holds, has consistently kept the train rolling by christening them with bizarre names. More excellent examples of his finishing manoeuvres include;

  • Sunday Rail Engineering Works Replacement Bus Service (A Single-Leg Boston Crab)
  • Article 50 (A Crucifix Armbar)
  • Hurrah! Another Year, Surely This One Will Be Better Than the Last; The Inexorable March of Progress Will Lead Us All to Happiness (A Double Wrist-Clutch Octopus Hold)

How Is Zack Sabre Jr Doing in The G1?

Zack Sabre Jr is having a very successful G1 in 2023. With his win over Goto today, he has qualified for the Quarter-Finals after tieing top place in his group with Tetsuya Naito.

Sabre racked up wins against Shane Haste, Alex Coughlin, Toru Yano and Hiroshi Tanahashi to secure his place in the next round. He will now face Kazuchika Okada in the Quarter-Finals, which will take place on August 10 in Funabashi.

In recent news, Zack Sabre Jr. has called out Bryan Danielson ahead of their AEW WrestleDream match.
