LA Knight’s Organic Rise Compared To WWE Legend Whose Previous Gimmick “Sh*t The Bed”

LA Knight makes his entrance on WWE SmackDown 2022

WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff discussed LA Knight’s meteoric rise in WWE, comparing him to none other than Stone Cold Steve Austin.

LA Knight is undoubtedly one of the most popular stars in WWE, and he has the merch sales to prove it. Knight is consistently at the top when it comes to merchandise, and at WWE Payback in September, he even managed to outsell the recently-returned John Cena. The star’s popularity is a far cry from that of the short-lived Max Dupri, and on a recent edition of 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff praised Knight for the way he’s found his footing in the company.

“Steve Austin found the elements of what became ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin that were really elements of who he really was. It was born almost organically. I like to believe that’s what’s happening with LA Knight. It’s not following anybody’s pattern; it’s just a natural progression of a very talented guy that’s finally found his footing.”

Eric Bischoff Believes LA Knight Is Similar To A Post-Ringmaster Steve Austin In WWE

Continuing, Bischoff explained how Austin was able to find his true character after the failed gimmick of The RIngmaster didn’t work out for him, and he believes Knight’s rise is comparable.

“The Ringmaster sh*t the bed and didn’t work, which opened the door for Steve to become ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin in WWE … I think perhaps some of the same thing is happening with LA Knight.”

At WWE Fastlane on October 7th, Knight teamed with John Cena to defeat the team of Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa.
