Braun Strowman Wants To Face WWE Champion Upon Return

Braun Strowman wants another opportunity at a dominant WWE Champion.

Billed at 6 foot 8 and weighing 385 lbs, few have been able to get the better of The Monster Among Men in a one-on-one contest. Back in January, one of the select few who stood tall over the former Universal Champion was Gunther, who has reigned as Intercontinental Champion longer than anyone in WWE history. Despite still recovering from neck surgery, Strowman is already looking at The Ring General when he returns.

Speaking with News 18, Strowman heavily praised Gunther and what he has done with the Intercontinental Championship, and would love to be the one to end the historic reign:

“I would love to have another go at GUNTHER,” Strowman said. “He’s one of what, four men that have ever been able to put my shoulders to the mat for three? And I give kudos to him. What he’s done with the Intercontinental Championship. He has completely elevated [the title], higher than it’s ever been elevated before. In my opinion, he’s the greatest Intercontinental Champion that WWE has ever had, and he’s brought prestige to that title.

So the person that’s able to take that away from him, that would speak volumes. And getting back in that ring, mixing it back up because he’s a fierce competitor. I like competition, and when somebody brings it to me like that, it makes me go, ‘Okay!'”

Strowman has previously held the Intercontinental Championship back in January 2020, defeating Shinsuke Nakamura on SmackDown to capture his first singles championship in WWE.

When Will Braun Strowman Return?

The Monster Among Men underwent neck surgery back in May, where his C4 and C5 discs were fused together. Understandably, due to the nature of the injury, Strowman is in no rush to make a return to the ring. During the same interview, Braun Strowman was asked what the chances were of a shock return at the Royal Rumble.
