Chris Jericho Reveals Why He'll Never Have A Retirement Match

Chris Jericho Weighs In On "Typical WWE Pettiness"

Chris Jericho has discussed why he believes he’ll never announce his retirement match and will instead just “disappear.”

During a recent interview with Chris Van Vilet, Jericho revealed his idea for a retirement match with his first-ever opponent and close friend, Lance Storm. He went on to discuss why he will likely never formally announce his retirement match as he does not want to put “an expiration date” on his career.

“Yeah, I had an idea. It was probably three or four months ago, where I was like, ‘Hey dude on this date, we should go to rent out the hall where we had our first match. And then have the exact same match again. Like the same spots, the same everything. And I thought that kinda was interesting but then I once again, like you know, the worst thing you could do is put a expiration date on your career.

“Because, if you feel like you want to do it, I remember the Scorpions went on a retirement tour like I don’t know, ten years ago or something. It’s like, why are you putting that much pressure on yourself? And then decided, ‘Nay, we don’t want to retire. We are having so much fun.’ And there’s like just don’t ever say that. If you’re gonna do it, then do it. And for me, like I’ll never have the big retirement match and I don’t… I hate that sh*t. I’ll just f*cking disappear, man. And that will be the best way to do it.”

Braun Strowman Provides Injury Update After Neck Fusion Surgery

Braun Strowman WWE

Braun Strowman has provided an update on when we can expect to see him return to the ring from injury.

Strowman has been out of action for the past seven months, having last competed on the May 1st edition of Raw. In a new interview with News18, Strowman revealed that he was recently cleared to begin lifting weights again but it doesn’t look likely that we’ll see him step inside the ropes again until 2024.

“So I just recently had my five-month check-up, with Dr. Cordoba, at the world-famous Andrews Medical Centre, where WWE graced me to have my surgery with the number one surgeon in the world. So I did my five-month check-up and got medically cleared to start lifting weights. So the bones are fusing nicely in my neck. So I had a cervical fusion on my C4 and C5. So they put a metal plate and four screws in my neck.

“I had four screws and a metal plate put it in my neck. Doc cleared me to start lifting weights again, which was a major blessing because I was going crazy sitting around eight weeks of doing nothing. I lost 35 pounds just sitting around for eight weeks because I wasn’t eating like I normally do since I wasn’t lifting. So I didn’t need all those extra calories. So now we’re trying to put the weight back on. The goal for 2024 is to continue this.

As I said, I go back after the first year to have another check-up and then get back in the ring, getting back into shape and then getting back to passing these hands out.”

Randy Orton Opens Up On "Ultimate Goal" Post-WWE Return

Randy Orton making his entrance at WWE Payback 2020

Randy Orton has detailed his “ultimate goal” following his WWE return at Survivor Series: WarGames!

Orton was the latest guest on Logan Paul‘s Impaulsive podcast and during his appearance, was asked about potentially overtaking John Cena and Ric Flair’s tied record for the most world championship reigns in WWE history.

The Viper admitted that whilst he’d love to break that record, he ultimately wants to make sure he can continue his in-ring career for many years to come while remaining healthy enough to spend time with his kids and family.

“At this point, I want to do everything I can, man. Longevity is always the number one goal for me and being able to go home play with my kids and not be in pain, right? That’d be the ultimate goal. But as many accomplishments as I can accomplish in WWE, the more the better. I’ve already done so much so far. It’s kind of nice being in a position where I can watch other guys’ matches and maybe critique and help and answer questions.

“So for the first time in my career, I find myself being a little bit of, gosh I don’t even want to say the word, a mentor to some people. Like I can pull a guy aside, kind of like how I DM’ed you [Logan] like, ‘Hey man, careful. Don’t go out here and end up in a wheelchair. You got a lot of shit going on.’ You’d be doing a lot of podcasts only, you always got to be thinking of that next one.”

Jim Ross

Jim Ross Provides Health Update Amidst AEW Absence

Jim Ross Provides Health Update; Addresses AEW Return

Jim Ross has provided a positive update on his health amidst his ongoing AEW absence.

Speaking on Grilling JR, Ross revealed that he had stopped drinking alcohol for the time being as they were interfering with his diabetes medication and he wants to get healthier as soon as possible. He went on to admit that he’s feeling healthier and losing weight and hopes to return to work in the near future once he’s cleared.

“My goal is to get healthy, and drinking was not working well with my meds, my diabetes medications. I’m taking a new one, so it was a conflict. It’s a conflict of interests, so to speak, because I want to get healthier, and these meds gotta work, and I was diluting their strength by drinking, so I hung it up.

“I haven’t had any withdrawal, I haven’t had any sleepless nights. I haven’t cheated. I was tempted a couple nights ago, maybe it was Sunday, to go have a shot of Crown Royal, and I resisted the urge. I know that somewhere down the road, I’ll have that shot of Crown Royal, but I’m gonna do things in moderation, not like a massive 400-pound King Kong Bundy or something. But this has put a lot of weight off me.

“I’m losing weight, I feel healthier. I hope to go back to work sooner than later, but I’m not sure what the doctor’s gonna say. It’s not up to me. I gotta get released to go back to work because of this wound. The diabetes, I can handle and treat that on the road. But anyway, the drinking was just something that I had to do to maximize the investment, and it is significant, of all my medicines. So that’s why I did it, and it’s working out fine.”

Andrade

Potential Sign Andrade El Idolo Could Return To WWE

Andrade El Idolo making his entrance in AEW

A recent move from Andrade El Idolo has suggested he could be headed back to WWE in the near future.

Speaking on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that Andrade is headed back to CMLL, his former home promotion in Mexico. Meltzer speculates that the AEW star is going back there simply because he wants to before he potentially returns to WWE when his AEW contract expires down the line.

“He’s going back to CMLL, not sure exactly what week but probably relatively soon. On Friday night’s Arena Mexico show they did a tease of him going back. He had talked to AAA about going back there, and decided to go to CMLL.

“I think he just wanted to do it because that’s where he started. Because there’s no real money, even though CMLL’s drawing big crowds, there’s no real money being paid by CMLL. And Andrade actually charges a lot for his appearances in Mexico, so I think it’s just something that he wants to do.

“And his deal is coming up relatively soon unless it’s extended or something because of time off for injuries or whatever, but he thinks that his deal’s up pretty soon. So he wanted to go back (to CMLL) in case he ends up going to WWE.

“He’s not made a decision on what he’s doing next, he’s not signed a new deal. But if he does go to WWE, he knows he can’t go back to Arena Mexico. (His AEW deal is up) he believes relatively soon. My impression is that it’s up relatively soon.”
