Charlotte Flair’s Injury On WWE SmackDown Much Worse Than First Expected

Charlotte Flair will require major surgery following an injury sustained at a recent WWE SmackDown taping.

Concern was raised for the SmackDown star’s condition following last week’s episode of SmackDown where Charlotte Flair seemingly suffered an injury. During a commercial break in the middle of her match with Asuka, Flair twisted her knee and hit her head after accidentally slipping while setting up a spot.

The match was then rushed to the finish, with Asuka rolling her up for the win before Flair was helped to the back by referee Charles Robinson and various medical officials. The update on Flair’s condition was provided on the December 15th edition of SmackDown, where it was confirmed that Flair had suffered a knee injury and would be out of action for nine months. As a result, Flair will not be a part of the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania and SummerSlam looks doubtful. It should also be noted that WWE did not provide any specifics of Flair’s knee injury at this time.

The unfortunate news comes just six months after Flair returned to WWE programming. After losing the SmackDown Women’s Championship to Rhea Ripley on WrestleMania 39 Night 1, Flair took a two-month hiatus from the company. She was also absent for most of 2022 in order to marry her now-husband and AEW star Andrade El Idolo.

In regards to the unfortunate injury, one WWE star believes that this could create a huge opportunity at WrestleMania.

As reported by PWInsider, the former Women’s Champion suffered a torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus during the match with Asuka. Furthermore, Flair is set to undergo surgery as soon as possible when the operation can be scheduled.
