Tessa Blanchard NOT Joining AEW

According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Tessa Blanchard will not be joining AEW as many originally thought.

In the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer notes that the former IMPACT World Heavyweight Champion is not headed to Jacksonville and AEW have decided not to pursue the talent following her release from IMPACT Wrestling.

In the document, Meltzer notes that even though her talent is undeniable, All Elite Wrestling are not interested in the star especially with the potential of being able to add some of IMPACT’s female stars to their division thanks to the new working relationship between the promotions.

However, the notorious journalist did not give a reason for the rejection of Blanchard – though allegations of racism couldn’t have helped – who has said to have been negotiating with both Tony Khan’s league and WWE since June of 2020.

Since leaving IMPACT Wrestling after the termination of her contract, Tessa Blanchard has only wrestled one bout against Kylie Rae at Warrior Wrestling: Stadium Series on September 12 where she dropped the Warrior Wrestling Women’s Championship to her foe.

Her final bout for IMPACT Wrestling came all the way back on April 7, when she teamed with Eddie Edwards to challenge The North for the IMPACT World Tag Team Championships.

Tessa Blanchard made history when she became the first female to lift the company’s top prize on January 12 at IMPACT Wrestling: Hard To Kill, defeating Sami Callihan in the main event.

She was only able to make one defence of her gold – against Taya Valkyrie on March 3 – before she was forced to vacate the strap upon her release.
