Kurt Angle Explains What Drew Vince McMahon To Austin Theory

Austin Theory Vince McMahon

Despite saying that he would never be regular presence on television again, Vince McMahon began appearing alongside Austin Theory in late 2021.

In a storyline that began with Theory stealing Cleopatra’s Egg from McMahon, the former Chairman became a mentor to the young star and attempted to mould him into championship material. This led to Theory competing at WrestleMania 38 on McMahon’s behalf against Pat McAfee.

Vince McMahon Groomed Theory For Greatness

This on-screen relationship also mirrored what was taking place behind the scenes. It was widely reported that Theory was seen as a future megastar and someone who could follow in the footsteps of John Cena.

Speaking in a new interview with Bill Apter for Sportskeeda, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle gave his opinion on the United States Champion. The WWE legend also lifted the lid on just what McMahon saw in the young star.

“I’m impressed by this kid and I understand why Vince McMahon loved him so much. He’s the whole thing. He has everything. He can talk, he’s got a great look, he can wrestle. This kid was groomed by Vince McMahon when he started and rightfully so. That’s what Vince McMahon did with me as well. I think this kid has a huge future, and he’s going to be a dominating wrestler in the future.”

These comments echo the sentiments of Monday Night Raw announcer Corey Graves who recently claimed that Theory was the “future of WWE.” Graves explained that he believes the former NXT star has the skill, worth ethic and talent to go to the very top of the company and headline WrestleMania for many years to come.

Austin Theory’s latest step on the ladder to super-stardom came at Survivor Series where he won the United States Title in a Triple Threat Match with Bobby Lashley and Seth Rollins.
