Dwayne Johnson Accused Of Leaking False Black Adam Box Office Statistics

Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam

Despite his iron-clad good guy image, accusations have been coming at Dwayne Johnson from all angles in recent days.

Following claims from Joe Rogan that the star has been lying about using steroids, it has now been alleged that he leaked misleading financial information in an effort to make his latest movie appear a success. DC’s most recent offering Black Adam hit movie theatres back in October, and reports over it’s financial success, or lack there of have been mixed.

Dwayne Johnson Accused Of Leaking False Information

In a recent report published by Variety, it was revealed that the film stood to lose anywhere between $50-$100 million. However, this was quickly followed by a further report from Deadline which claimed that far from losing money, Black Adam could be turning a profit. The article shared by Johnson on social media noted that the movie stood to make between $52 and $72 million in profit.

“Waited to confirm with financiers before I shared this excellent #BlackAdam news – our film will PROFIT between $52M-$72M. Fact. At almost $400M worldwide we are building our new franchise step by step (first Captain America did $370M) for the DC future.”

Although that is far from being the end of the story. In a Puck newsletter, Matt Belloni claimed that “several Warner executives” believe that Johnson leaked the story to Deadline, furthermore, the figures were based on “false assumptions.” Belloni added that this was “one of the silliest trade stories of all time” while casting doubts on the movie’s likelihood to reach the home entertainment numbers that Johnson claims.

It has long been rumoured that Dwayne Johnson will be returning to WWE to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39. While there has been no official confirmation regarding a potential match, it has been reported that there is a mid-January deadline for any plans to be finalised.
