AEW World Champion MJF is currently in a feud with Adam Cole and some eagle-eyed fans spotted similarities in a recent war of words between the two and one of Cole’s most talked about promos during his time in NXT.
On the June 7th edition of AEW Dynamite the champ and Cole got into a heated microphone battle that saw them exchange several vicious barbs about their careers, in-ring skills, and physiques. The verbal back-and-forth caused quite a buzz on social media among wrestling fans at the time and even more recently some fans have noticed a huge hidden surprise during the segment.
An account called wrestlingsleague on TikTok posted a video that spliced together Cole’s now infamous promo against Karrion Kross in NXT in which he lambasted the then-NXT Champion for being all show and no go. The video is cut with Friedman’s recent promo battle with Cole in which he repeats his words to Kross almost verbatim.
MJF and Adam Cole Are Now Unwilling Tag Team Partners
Following the promo, Cole took on the champion in an AEW World Title Eliminator Match. Cole seemingly had the bout won but the match reached its time limit and ended in a draw. Their rivalry continued but took an unpredicted turn when their names were drawn as partners in the Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament.
Despite their initial unwillingness to team together, the unlikely duo defeated their opponents in the opening round of the tournament.
Aside from reluctantly teaming Friedman is forcing an over-the-top friendship on Cole in order to quell his encroaching title challenge and organized an in-ring birthday celebration for him complete with streamers, cake, and a beautiful rendition of Happy Birthday.
Aside from all the shenanigans the duo will face another makeshift team on July 12th Dynamite in the form of Brian Cage and Big Bill.
