In 2004 Brock Lesnar sensationally quit WWE. A few years later he swapped the wrestling ring for the UFC Octagon.
Lesnar debuted for Dana White’s promotion in 2008 and won the UFC Heavyweight Championship that same year. After defeating Randy Couture for the title he successfully defended it twice against Frank Mir and Shane Carwin.
In 2010 he lost the title to Cain Velasquez and left the promotion a year later after a loss to Aleister Overeem before making the transition back to sports entertainment.
Despite not fighting an MMA match in years Lesnar is still heavily linked with the promotion. He returned to the Octagon in 2016 for UFC 200 and following Daniel Cormier’s title at UFC 226, Lesnar confronted and shoved the UFC Hall of Famer.
The incident seemed to set up a potential megafight between the two. However, the mega-money fight never materialised.
Jon Jones Is Open For A Match With Brock Lesnar
Jones is returning to UFC after a three-year hiatus. Jones’ last match was in February 2020. He defeated Dominick Reyes in a controversial match before vacating the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship in a dispute over pay with Dana White.
After years of speculation and a move to the Heavyweight division, Jones will face Ciryl Gane for the vacant Heavyweight Championship at UFC 285.
The highly-anticipated bout takes place on March 4th at the T-Mobile Arena facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ahead of his long-awaited return to the Octagon UFC legend Jon Jones hinted at a match with The Beast.
Jones said in a recent interview with Sporting News Fights, that while chances are slim he isn’t ruling out a face-to-face with the former UFC Heavyweight Champion.
“It would have been one of those cool David and Goliath situations. It would have been cool for cross-sport promoting and I think we both would have done great things for our families and for our team. You know, financially, that would have been massive. Never say never. Brock, if you’re out there….”
Speaking of the seven-time WWE Champion, Lesnar recently accepted Omos’ challenge for a match at WrestleMania 39.
The highly-criticised match was confirmed after it was reported Lesnar refused and turned down a programme with Bray Wyatt.
